Pathways FMHS offers a variety of family counseling, individual counseling, assessment, and consultation services whether client needs are court-related or not. Below is a detailed list of specialized services offered for adults and children through Pathways FMHS.

We at Pathways FMHS understand that taking the step to reach out for help from a total stranger requires courage and can be a little scary at first.  So whether your counseling is court-connected and/or required, or whether you initiated on your own the process of getting professional help, we thought we would just go ahead and give you some insight into what you can expect getting started.  In the first few sessions you and your therapist will exchange information in order to clarify the problems that we need to address.  Through this clarification, you and your therapist will work together to identify the goals you want to reach as well as map out some specific strategies to help you achieve those goals or resolve the problems.  A therapist may choose from a wide variety of therapeutic techniques; so your feedback is very important to in determining which of those will be the most useful for you and in making any adjustments to your treatment planning over the course of your therapy experience.  We offer counseling for children, adolescents, adults, and families facing challenges that may occur.

Divorce adjustment Counseling:

Divorce is a pivotal life event that changes the entire infrastructure of the intact family. The effects of separation and divorce on individuals and/or children can be profound, and most certainly life changing; therefore, it is sometimes necessary to reach out for professional help when these effects become overwhelming. Pathways Forensic & Mental Health Services offers divorcement adjustment counseling for adults and children affected by such drastic life changes.

Cooperative Parenting Facilitation:

Pathways Forensic & Mental Health Services provides cooperative parenting (CP) facilitation / counseling, which is a broad, highly involved forensic service that is sometimes required in cases where co-parents have difficulty, or simply refuse to get along. Through a Family Law Court order or Rule 11 agreement, the cooperative parenting facilitator works closely with parties by confronting behaviors of the co-parents that have an adverse emotional or psychological effect on the child. Throughout the cooperative parenting process the goal of the facilitator is to provide support and sometimes directive guidance in the problem solving process. This mechanism is a means to deal with their conflict outside of Court and reduce the impact of litigation on children. The facilitator becomes deeply involved in the case including, but not limited to consulting with other medical, school, or mental health professionals. They are not on either parents’ side, but hold fast the “Best Interest of the Child” Standards as an uncompromised priority in every phase of the facilitation process. In doing so, the facilitator can write status reports to the court as needed and defined in the order, provide testimony testify in court and be contacted by other professionals.

Parent Coordination:

Pathways Forensic & Mental Health Services also offers parent coordination services. Similar to a cooperative parenting facilitator, a parent coordinator (PC) is appointed by court order to help litigation parties resolve matters relating to parenting and devise methods to resolve disputes between the parents in conflict. However, a parent coordinator cannot testify in court or submit a report into evidence.  Rather, the PC may only submit to the Court a report stating whether process PC process should continue.

Divorce Counseling Assistance:

Pathways Forensic & Mental Health Services also provides non-court-ordered counseling assistance to individuals who are going through a divorce, whether that divorce is cooperative or uncooperative. The overarching goals of this counseling is to create a counseling environment that fosters an emphasis on keeping the divorce climate “kid friendly.”
