  • General Psychological Evaluations: In some cases, when speaking with a client at intake, Dr. Stanley will recommend a psychological evaluation to obtain in greater detail information about a client that will establish or rule out the presences of certain psychological traits and/or disorders. When conducting psychological evaluations, Dr. Stanley will utilize valid and reliable psychometric testing to assess for the psychological symptoms and personality traits that could be contributing to the client’s problems or dissatisfaction or that may be shaping certain problematic thoughts, feelings, or behaviors. This type of assessment is done in the early stages of treatment to solidify diagnosis and lay a firm foundation for treatment planning.

Psychotherapy:

  • Indiviual Therapy: When treatment with Dr. Stanley begins, she generally does a psycho-diagnostic evaluation designed to clarify, identify or differentiate a client’s symptoms, improve diagnostic accuracy, and provide insight into the client’s common experiences . This evaluation may include gathering general or detailed information during a clinical interview about the individual’s background. With client input, Dr. Stanley will formulate a client-centered treatment plan designed to address the client’s clinical needs or treatment targets, establish the frequency of sessions and an estimated number of sessions, if possible.
  • Non-agency Private Clients: Dr. Stanley’s most common clientele from the private sector are adults seeking treatment for impulse control problems including process addictions such as pornography, gambling, hypersexuality, infidelity, or deviant sexual interest and/or behavior; however, she also is highly experienced with assisting clients with life planning and with working through issues stemming from significant life changes such as grief and loss, divorce, empty nest, mid-life crisis, and other issues, conditions, or situations causing emotional disruption in various stages of adulthood.
